Embracing Personal Style: A Journey of Self-Expression and Authenticity

In the midst of this new year, or perhaps influenced by the major cosmic shifts (I see you Pluto exiting Capricorn and entering Aquarius), I've found myself contemplating my personal style. It's a topic that has not only occupied my thoughts but has also become a shared conversation among my friends and customers. Style, I believe, is a dynamic aspect of our lives that ebbs and flows, sometimes feeling like a true reflection of ourselves and at other times resembling a mere facade.

During certain phases of my life, I've noticed that I use fashion as a tool—either to conceal aspects of myself that I'm not entirely fond of or to expedite the transformative changes I aspire to undergo. This reflection brings to mind a book I once came across, titled "Dress Your Best Life" by Dawn Karen, which explores the idea that dressing the part can pave the way to achieving desired roles or lifestyles. Similarly, influencers like Jenna Kutcher have shared their journeys, emphasizing the power of incremental changes in aligning one's life with their vision for the future.

Jenna Kutcher, in particular, discussed her desire to inhabit a specific future version of herself. In this idealized self-portrait, she envisioned wearing the perfect pair of jeans and a classic white button-up shirt. It struck her that these were tangible elements she could begin incorporating into her life immediately, thus building towards her envisioned future self. This concept resonates with me deeply, as I've often found myself in the same contemplative seat.

Now, as I embrace the journey of my 30th year around the sun, I've come to a profound realization about style. No longer am I preoccupied with meeting others' expectations of how I should look; instead, my focus has shifted to what I want to look like. My fashion choices are now a reflection of the version of myself I aspire to be, not merely a projection of how I wish to be perceived.

I've coined my newfound style as "European artist," a playful nod to my evolving identity. As I embark on this chapter of my life, I encourage you to ponder: What style resonates with the person you want to become? How can your fashion choices today shape the narrative of your future self? Perhaps it's as simple as trading in those comfortable sweatpants for a pair of jeans that make you feel confident.

In the grand tapestry of life, our style is a thread that weaves the story of our authentic selves. So, I invite you to consider the changes you can make today – both big and small – that align with the person you aspire to be. Whether it's a change in wardrobe or a shift in mindset, embracing your personal style can be a transformative journey toward self-discovery and empowerment.
